RUBINA Millinery

It is all about PASSION, doing things that you LOVE and having FUN.

I come from a lineage of women who have been masters of different handcrafts. One of my grandmothers created housewares – towels, table runners, napkins – with intricate needlework and crochet details. She inspired me to mix different techniques of crafts to create truly unique masterpieces. My other grandmother knitted colorful socks and mittens that kept me warm during the cold Baltic winters. Form her I inherited the love for natural materials. My mother is a dressmaker. She was my teacher from the moment I could handle a needle and a thread. Her love for detail and superb quality has become the basis also for my creative endeavours.

I have always loved creating something with my hands and my creative curiosity has lead me to learn all kinds of handwork till finally I found my love of life – MILLINERY.

I have always loved creating something with my hands and my creative curiosity has lead me to learn all kinds of handwork – sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, jewelry making – till finally I found my love of life – MILLINERY. I love everything about this old craft – working with quality materials, creating every single detail with my hands and the possibility to merge different techniques into one work of art. Millinery is a life-long process of learning and fine-tuning, but I am very grateful to my teacher Rose Cory, late Queen Mother’s milliner, for showing me the secrets of this craft to make hats and fascinators fit for royalty.

The name “RUBINA Millinery” is a combination of my second name and the name “ruby”. So are my millinery pieces – hand made jewels for the precious moments in your life. My hats and fascinators are inspired by feminine beauty, classy elegance and glamour of the Art Deco era. I enjoy making contemporary millinery pieces with a touch of vintage.

With love,

Rita Bubina
